What makes a person choose one design over another?
Whats the difference between this being a good choice over a bad choice?  I’ll answer this one later.  This one really bugs me, why do caucasian people think that the chinese language have a perfect translation from our alphabet to Asian symbols.

Asian writing is comprised of thousands and thousands of symbols but they must have similarities among themselves because  how could a computer keyboard from the orient be organized in such a small space.  Anyway, this document is not about how the Chinese write.

Over the years, I’ve saw some awesome design ideas, and on the other side of the coin, I’ve saw some terrible ideas.  Some have been that bad, I don’t know if you could even call it an idea.

The worst are those sewing needle tattoos that people get after having a couple (couple could be anything making people make bad choices whether it be drinks, joints, punch’s to the head, etc).  WHY?  Why do people do this?  Where does the blockage of rational thinking come from?  I mean, even when I gave myself a “homemade machine” tattoo in my young and stupid years, I still managed to pick a design that was somewhat cool.  I did a simple tribal design that don’t look bad even to this day.  Time kills those sewing needle tattoos, the problem is that there is no uniform depth the needle is put in, resulting in the needle/ink being pushed into the sub-cutaneous layer and over time, the ink spreads easily in the surrounding tissue of this skin layer.  Ok, I’ll admit, i’ve done a minor touch-up to my homemade tattoo and this is probably why it’s presentable.

I’m just glad I didn’t get a “love/hate” tattoo.  Any tattoo across the knuckles I refer to as a love/hate tat.

Another peeve of mine is people who come in with no idea of what design they want, or where they want to get it too.  This person is most likely going to get a tattoo which they may regret at one point or another.  I hate doing a tattoo when the person has not put enough thought into it, in fact I will refuse to do it if I think it’s too bad of a choice.  If I think I can improve it, I will.  Otherwise, I will work with the client to make a better more suited design.

Some of my own tattoos have months of thought put behind them.  I’ve changed my mind on times, and I’ve totally abandoned some ideas after realizing how stupid they were.  A few months of thought will never hurt a decision whether it’s about a tattoo design or anything.   Another tactic to choosing a design is to run your ideas over someone elses opinion.  A different set of eyes may make you realize that the design is not exactly what you dreamed it was.  This too can help you see the future (well, kind of).  Someones view of your design will give you advance warning of how people will perceive your design ideas should it receive a home in your skin.

All of this said, I will conclude that the only thing separating a good choice from a bad one, is simply time.
